Hello friends, I hope you’re all well and have had a lovely start to the week.
I wanted to start by offering my apologies for not putting Conductor’s Notes up more regularly; we’ve had a few bereavements in the past couple of weeks which have drawn my focus elsewhere, so I’m sorry I’ve not been in touch more regularly. Things will get easier once the baby comes… right?!…
What we’ve done so far
We’ve had some really good rehearsals this term, working extra hard on all of our pieces, but especially the Schubert Mass in G. Keep plugging away at it all, especially when I’m not there! Thank you for a great AGM last week too, we covered a lot, and it’s really nice to touch base with everyone! If anyone has any thoughts on fundraising, please do contact Steve Morris, Steve Kinsey, or me!
To Catch Up: If you missed these rehearsals, please look through all of the music, especially the Mass in G.
What we’ll do – Thursday 31st October
A REMINDER THAT THERE IS A REHEARSAL THIS WEEK!!
I know it’s the school half-term, but there’ll definitely be a rehearsal this week (unless Bec suddenly pops!), so please do try to come. We’ll cover:
Veni Jesu Amor Mi;
Sectionals on Credo and Sanctus;
Sectionals on The Heavens are Telling;
Tutti on Gloria, Credo, and Sanctus (joining it to the Hosanna);
Tutti on The Heavens are Telling;
Auld Lang Syne.
We’ll be taking our half-term break the following week, when Bec is due.
I’ll be sharing a rehearsal plan for the final few rehearsals in the next week or so, so that’ll give you plenty of notice in advance of the rehearsals.
Learning Resources
Below are some resources to help you learn the music:
- All the pieces can be listened to on your preferred platform (YouTube, Apple Music, etc.) but as always, I’ve provided a playlist on Spotify of my suggested recordings. You can check it out HERE.
- Please do use these learning guide tracks to help you learn your notes. Other resources are available for the second half, including some pieces on Choralia, but John Fletcher Music has some good guides for the Schubert HERE.
- My Marked Scores are below. Please don’t share these as they’re for rehearsal purposes only. You’ll be given physical copies at the first rehearsal, with markings in the booklet for the second half (you’ll need to mark up the Schubert yourselves please).
Poster!
Our poster is available digitally below, so get sharing! You’ll notice it has a QR code on it, which will take you to the website to get tickets! It’s never too early to promote the concert, so publicise everywhere!

That’s it for now! See you on the 31st October.
Ben
