Hello friends, I hope you’re all well and have had a lovely week! I’m very sorry to have missed you last week, but I hear it went really well with Malcolm. A few things for you all below, so thanks for reading.
What we did – Thursday 26th September
A massive thank you to Malcolm for taking the rehearsal this week. He told me you made it all the way through the work with ease, and then he spent some time working on the Agnus Dei in a bit more detail. He also mentioned the work you were doing on the Credo in order to get the text across – fantastic!
To Catch Up: If you missed this rehearsal, please sing through the Schubert Mass in G with a recording at home.
What we’ll do – Thursday 3rd October
Goodness me, it’s already October!
This week we’ll begin with The Heavens are Telling in full rehearsal, and then we’ll break off for sectionals on the Gloria and Kyrie movements of the Schubert. Fiona will take the Tenors and Basses this week, and I’ll take the Sops and Altos. To finish we’ll come back together to sing those movements through, and if we’ve got time we’ll end with another look at Veni Jesu by Cherubini.
Learning Resources
Below are some resources to help you learn the music:
- All the pieces can be listened to on your preferred platform (YouTube, Apple Music, etc.) but as always, I’ve provided a playlist on Spotify of my suggested recordings. You can check it out HERE.
- Please do use these learning guide tracks to help you learn your notes. Other resources are available for the second half, but John Fletcher Music has some good guides for the Schubert HERE.
- My Marked Scores are below. Please don’t share these as they’re for rehearsal purposes only. You’ll be given physical copies at the first rehearsal, with markings in the booklet for the second half (you’ll need to mark up the Schubert yourselves please).
Poster!
Our poster is available digitally below, so get sharing! You’ll notice it has a QR code on it, which will take you to the website to get tickets! It’s never too early to promote the concert, so publicise everywhere!

That’s it for now! See you on the 3rd October!
Ben
